Sequences
Keep scenes, alternate cuts, and delivery formats in separate edits.
A sequence is one self-contained edit with its own clips, tracks, playhead position, and output frame. Use separate sequences for scenes, alternate cuts, or deliverables that need different framing.
Create and switch sequences
- Open the sequence menu in the timeline toolbar and select New Sequence.
- Rename the sequence for the cut it contains, such as “Opening — selects” or “Trailer — vertical.”
- Use the same menu to switch sequences. Martini restores the timeline view for the sequence you return to.
Changing one sequence does not rearrange the others. This makes it safe to explore a new cut without dismantling the current one.
A sequence can also appear as a nested clip inside another sequence. Open the nested sequence to edit its source, or choose Break Link when you need an independent copy in the parent edit. Keep nested sequence framing consistent with the parent when you plan to export them together.
Before exporting, confirm the active sequence name and play it from beginning to end. Export uses the active sequence, not every sequence in the project.
